“Specialized Law Associates” (SLA)  — is a professional association of lawyers, specializing primarily in handling civil cases with a foreign element, that is, cases involving the application of private international law and foreign law.

The main goal of the SLA is the effective legal protection of the material and moral interests of Ukrainian individuals and legal entities abroad.

The activities of the SLA also aims to provide legal assistance to foreign citizens, stateless persons and foreign legal entities in Ukraine in order to ensure the realization of their rights and legal interests in civil cases sphere.

Offering and practically providing a wide range of legal services, the SLA is at the forefront of handling inheritance cases with a foreign element and is suited to their settlement only comprehensively viz: carries out a primary collection of information and documents that allow to initiate a case, looks for an estate and heirs, prepare the necessary documentation to confirm the hereditary status of clients, represents their interests in government and judicial authorities of Ukraine and legal institutions abroad, monitors the progress of the case and the distribution of inherited assets, and also carries out the formalities for their transfer in accordance with the instructions of the heirs.

The team of the SLA consists of highly qualified lawyers who have years of experience in their specialties, approach creatively to the settlement of cases and speak foreign languages. It gives them the opportunity to provide legal assistance to clients in the most complex legal situations. In their individual list there are more than one hundred cases with a positive decision.

The SLA has extensive links with the international legal community, contractual long-term professional relationships with leading lawyers and known law firms and genealogy companies in many countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, the countries of Western and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet republics. It makes possible, if necessary, to bring to solving each case the best foreign experts in the field of law and, therefore, it is an additional effective practical resource to represent and protect the interests of Ukrainian citizens and organizations abroad.

In its work, the SLA adheres to generally accepted international standards and rules of legal ethics, works with clients on the principles of trust, responsibility, individual approach and strict confidentiality. It keeps secrets not only in the process of handling cases, but also after their completion.

The SLA remuneration for the work is specified in the legal assistance contract with the client. The SLA service cost corresponds to the average prices of legal services in Ukraine and is differentiated. It depends on the complexity of the case and the volume of work done on it and in each case it can be determined by agreement of the parties as hourly, and the fixed (in percentage or monetary value) basis, or combinations thereof.

In estate matters with a foreign element the SLA receives its fee after a final decision of the matter in favor of the client only and covers all of the current up-front costs associated with its handling, that is, it provides legal services on the basis of the so-called “contingency fee”. If the matter for some objective or subjective circumstances beyond the control of the client occurred unreal, then the client is not obliged to reimburse the SLA for any kind of expense concerning handling the matter.

The SLA is always doing everything possible to protect effectively the legitimate rights and interests of its clients, strives to work efficiently, quickly and complete the cases as soon as possible. The appropriate level of the SLA work gives it a high reputation in Ukraine and abroad.
